The Los Angeles Lakers have penned both Shareef O’Neal and Scotty Pippen Jr. to two-way contracts”. Both players penned their contracts on Thursday, the day after the NBA Draft.
O’Neal, who is “22, is the elder son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal”. Pippen Jr. is the son of Scottie Pippen, who won 6 NBA titles. Both O’Neal and Pippen Jr. Shared on internet about how happy they were to have penned contracts.
O’Neal shared a video of himself from the past wearing a Lakers jersey and thanking the team. He wrote, “Thank you for this opportunity.” In 2013, the Lakers took his known dad’s jersey out of circulation.
Pippen Jr. wrote, “Dreams come true,” and added an emoji of praying hands. “Let’s get to work.”
O’Neal is 6-foot-10 and played college basketball for both UCLA and LSU. He said prior this week that his dad would have liked him to stay in school and not go into the draft this year.
He desired me to stay in school,” he told me. “He knows that I work out with a group. I won’t lie, though; we haven’t talked about this. I’m sort of just getting by.”
Pippen Jr. played for Vanderbilt for the last 3 years. He scored 20.4 points per game in his final season with the college.
