Mo’Nique’s not so far appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast has stirred up conversations about her connection with her elder son, Shalon Jackson. In a heartfelt TikTok video, Shalon planned to share his side of the story and address his mom’s comments.
In the video, which lasted nearly 10 minutes, Jackson calmly described his thoughts and feelings about the situation. He started by explaining that he wanted to respond in a measured way, to avoid getting caught up in emotions:
“I would like to free her (his mom, Mo’Nique) from having to continue telling that lie,” Shalon shared. “Faith without work is dead, and neither one of us cares to put forth any effort to reconcile with the other. We are separate as she put it because she doesn’t care to be my mom any more than I care to be her son.”
Jackson continued to highlight the lack of communication between the two, stating that neither of them has reached out to each other in a far time. He also mentioned that Mo’Nique’s current husband, Sidney Hicks, does not acknowledge him, including to the complexities of their estranged bond.
Reflecting on their troubled past, Shalon said:
“I’m tired of hearing my mom’s truths, news flash… standing in your truth doesn’t make you noble.”
Shalon Jackson acknowledged that nobody is perfect and that he was willing to get over certain stuffs. However, he alluded that his mom has a lack of humility, compassion, and consideration in taking accountability for her actions. He explained her as someone who acknowledges stuffs selectively and only when it suits her convenience.
Mo’Nique, in her conversation with Shannon Sharpe, expressed her hope that time would heal the divide between her and her son. She understood that she had done what she could and that it was now up to him to planned if and when he wanted to reconcile.
